Frequently Asked Questions

We've compiled some commonly asked questions to provide you with all the information you need about our lessons, pricing, payment methods, exam availability, and more.

1. Lesson Pricing

Q: How much do lessons cost?

A: Our standard rate for a half-hour lesson is $40.

Q: How are lessons invoiced?

A: Lessons are invoiced by the school term. If you join mid-term, we'll prorate your fees accordingly so you only pay for the remaining classes in the term.

2. Payment Methods

Q: What are the available payment methods?

A: Payment for the term can be made in the following ways:

  • Cash: Pay in person at our school during operating hours.

  • Direct Deposit: Transfer the payment directly to our bank account using the details provided on your invoice.

  • Credit Card: Visit our school in person to pay by credit card. We accept all major credit cards.

3. Exam Availability

Q: Do you offer exams?

A: Yes, we follow the AMEB exam syllabus. Exams can be conducted in person at the AMEB Clarence St offices in May or November.

Alternatively, exams can be submitted via video recording from February to June and July to October. Please note that exam dates are subject to change by the AMEB.

4. Lesson Availability

Q: When are lessons available?

A: Lessons are available six days a week to accommodate your schedule. You can book in for weekly lessons at a time that suits you. Please note that lessons are paused during school holidays.

5. Missed Classes

Q: What happens if I miss a class?

A: If you need to miss a class, please notify us in advance. We understand that life can get busy, and we'll do our best to offer makeup lessons where available.

6. Equipment Needed

Q: Do I need to bring any equipment to my lessons?

A: While we provide pianos and have basic student guitars available for the first lessons, we highly recommend having your own instrument for at-home practice. If you're learning the guitar, please bring your instrument with you. Our teachers can offer guidance on the best instruments for your learning journey.

Additionally, we have copies of beginner books available at the school, which can be photocopied for the first few classes. However, we encourage purchasing your music so you can write notes and additional practice methods directly into your own copy.

At A Sharp Music, we strive to provide a supportive and enriching learning environment for all our students. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to our friendly team. We're here to help you on your musical journey!
